About the Escondido Bulletin

The Escondido Bulletin is a monthly newsletter that is dedicated to keeping the Escondido community informed, connected, and empowered using information straight from the source. Every month, the Escondido Bulletin gathers updates and information exclusively from official government resources, including City Council and town hall meetings, public notices, city department announcements, and verified government e-mail notifications.

By relying solely on government-provided information, the Escondido Bulletin ensures transparency and neutrality. This will better enable readers to stay up to date on local decisions, upcoming projects, community programs, and opportunities to get involved. The goal of the Escondido Bulletin is simple: to make sure every Escondido resident has easy access to the information that shapes our city.

The Escondido Bulletin is put together using a mix of tools: a few Python scripts that check daily for and download new videos and e-mails, AssemblyAI for transcribing meeting audio, and ChatGPT to help summarize both transcripts and official notification emails. Once that’s done, I personally review each post, add context or links, and correct any mistakes before publishing. Even with this process, it’s still a fair amount of work and a lot of information being condensed, so occasional errors may slip through. If you spot something off, I’d greatly appreciate you letting me know!
